Francois obtained his B.Sc. (Hons) degree at the University of the Freestate in South Africa. He started his career at OTK (Afgri) in 1987 as Livestock Specialist and progressed to Director Grain and Sundry Industries. His main duty was the restructuring of the various industries, taking over of various businesses and he specialises in the financial and strategic repositioning of businesses.
In May 2001 he accepted an appointment at Senwes, where he successfully turned around the JSE listed subsidiary, Kolosus. He was appointed as a member of the Executive Committee of Senwes Limited on 21 June 2003 as Operational Director, and was responsible for Grain, Retail, Mechanisation, Hartswater Wine Cellar and the Insurance Division. Francois was appointed as Acting Managing Director on 1 June 2010 and on 6 August 2010 he was appointed as Managing Director of Senwes Limited and is responsible for the whole Group.
He serves as a Director on numerous boards and subsidiaries among other the Agbiz Exco and Board, North-West University Board, Financial & Remuneration Committees. He also serves as Executive Director on the Board of Senwes Limited. Within the first year of his appointment several acquisitions were made after the conception of an agreed comprehensive 20/20 strategy. Various models for co-operation in the grain industry were formed, which would internationalise the Group by 2020, with a basis in Africa and South Africa. He strives to empower teams to excel in their performance and is very involved in the development of the economy and sport in the rural areas.
Senwes is an agricultural business whose main focus is the provision of production inputs to mainly grain producers, as well as market access for grain products. It is strategically linked to the provision of value added services, which include finance, insurance and grain technical services. Senwes trades mainly in the North West Province, Freestate, Gauteng, Northern- and Southern Cape in South Africa.
