MD: Tajiri Capital – Kenya

TAJIRI Capital was established in 2011 in Uganda in partnership with Nelson Mugenyi. The aim was to establish a brokerage and advisory services firm, using out networks in the region to source and develop business prospects for companies looking to enter the market, or facilitate introductions to government and key players for entities looking for local partners. Accepting the challenges of monetizing introductions and other soft facilitation services, we opted to develop our own business prospects and approach our network for investment.

In 2014, TAJIRI Capital was registered in Kenya to spearhead the development of a hotel and residence in Nairobi. The project was shelved in Q4 2014 due to internal differences in the client family. I had established a network of investors for the project estimating a development cost of US$ 70 million. I was introduced to several key Kenyan and UAE players willing to invest in the development throughout the project.

In 2015 I was able to secure the pre-qualification of a medium sized Nigerian Oil Firm into the Tanzanian Bulk Petroleum Procurement system. I have since taken a keen interest in Downstream Petroleum while maintaining my channels with an eye on proposed development in the energy sector. In 2016 TAJIRI Capital was shortlisted by the Tanzania National Electricity Supply Company (TANESCO) and Ministry of Energy and Minerals in Tanzania as one of the most competitive Independent Power Producer proposals, unfortunately the process was suspended by the president who’s intention is to retain power generation as a national industry.

I remain active within the community and have personally taken on several CSR projects, such as the installation of a borehole pump for the local police station as well as contributing to the development of church hall in Rongai.

Aside from my professional experience, I am a self starter, confident communicator, numerically astute and a strong team player. I have coordinated several tender bids, with a team of professionals located between East Africa, Europe and India leading the teams to complete and timely submission as well as maintaining good rapport for repeat business opportunities.
