Ms Lucy Ngwabeni
Moderator – Mining and beneficiation Panel
Ms. Lucy Ngwabeni is a Board Member of Mmabana Culture Art and Sports Foundation. She was part of the first committee that started SAWEN (South African Women Entrepreneur’s Network) in the mid-90s and it was not an easy task as everyone was garbling with the issues of women empowerment. She has served as National Coordinator of NABCAT which played a crucial role in the agenda of empowerment of black contractors in South Africa from 2005 until 2011. Lucy has also served in the Gauteng–North West Regional Committee of CETA until the structures were dissolved due to the government process of amalgamation and reduction of CETAS in 2010. Her responsibility in the latter role was to be the voice of small service providers and to ensure that women are included in their programmes and small contractors are taken care of as per the Legislation and the Construction Charter. She has been serving as Chairperson of South African Women in Mining Association in the North West Province since 2000 and is currently National Secretary of Women in Mining Association to date. She has been a Board Member of South African Women in Mining Investment Holding since 2011 and currently serves as the National Secretary of SAWIMA. Lucy is also a member of the Matlosana Development Forum.
